We are currently living through an unprecedented time, work and how we choose to provide a livelihood for ourselves and our families is always evolving and changing. For this project, I chose to focus on street vending, specifically the individuals selling flowers in our community. I wanted to gain a better understanding of some of the hardships, obstacles, and triumphs that these folks experienced throughout the pandemic. By focusing on the experience of these individuals, I am focusing on issues regarding undocumented folks, workers’ rights and acces to resources. I chose to photograph the workers at their puestos in order to show their daily realities. In addition to photographing the vendors at their puestos, I wanted to illustrate the workers as well and create uplifting images that will empower them and the community. I hope that by creating these images I am uplifting my community and those whom I captured.
